Public Health England have announced today that the average child in England eats more than half of their sugar consumption before they even get to school. 1 in 5 children are overweight or obese before starting primary school – this goes up to 1 in 3 children being overweight or obese before they start secondary school.
This is a significant problem that can impact not only their physical health but also their mental health and sense of self-worth. There are many causes of obesity but no matter what your views on specific nutrition guidance are, everyone is in agreement that sugar in the diet is driving ill health.
I was invited to speak live on the BBC One Breakfast Show on Tuesday 3rdJanuary, 2017 – would love to hear your thoughts on this on my Facebook page.
